Our summer officially started a few weeks ago and I had in mind some fun things to do to encourage my Kid Hero and kick summer off right. My hubby was able to get off work early to be home for lunch which was a blessing.

When Kid Hero got off the bus he ran into a banner that I handmade, Hulk smash surprise squirt him and we broke out in a water fight. I didn’t capture everything because I didn’t want my camera wet but there are a few good snippets I did catch. Some of our games included a popcorn relay race, water balloon baseball, and water drop. My hubby didn’t have time to stay and paint faces so I think next year we will plan better for that.

All in all we wanted to intentionally encourage our boy that hard work and diligence do pay off when you work for the Lord and that there is a time to play after you have applied yourself faithfully. The boys were surprised to see us acting silly and having as much fun as they were. We hope to continue this every year to give them something to look forward to.
